Ball flint
Kugelfeuerstein ( Danish Kugleflint ; English called Ball Flint ) is more or less rounded, often spherical flint from deposits of the Cretaceous period . Kugelfeuerstein occurs in France and Denmark , where he z. B. is found more often in the beach ridges near the chalk cliffs, the Ulvshale peninsula on Møn ( called Mønkugeln here ), on the southern tip of Langeland and north of Stevns Klint .
In the past, ball flint was used in ball mills to make cement . Today spherical flint is only used in the manufacture of white cement .
Flint stones, which are similar in appearance, are the always spherical rattle stones that envelop a fossil sponge .
