The Kula , also Cula, Kolla, Coula, Colla, Kolleh / Kollé was a North African measure of volume and weight in Morocco , Tunis and Algiers . As a cula, it was the only oil measure in Morocco, but it was also used in other regions for milk and vinegar and similar liquids.

Morocco

The cula , also called coula , was a measure only for oil in the empire of Morocco . The measure is named after the earthen vessel and was also called Colla or Coulla . When measured in terms of weight, 22  pounds of the great hundredweight was equal to one coula.

Algeria

The Kulleh, also Koullé , was an Algerian measure of volume for liquids and was especially taken for oil. The previous size, oil was previously sold by weight, was the Metalli with 16,951  kilograms . The measure corresponded to a copper jug ​​with a capacity of 16 2/3 liters.

In the trade, the Kulleh was expected to be 16 liters due to its simplicity.
