Kunsthaus Rust

The Kunsthaus Rust is a listed ( list entry ) former winegrower's house . It was built in the style of a town house in the 16th century in the free town of Rust on Lake Neusiedl . Since the completion of the reconstruction work and reopening in 2009, a permanent exhibition and changing exhibitions by artists from both Austrian and international contemporary art have been presented here. It is one of the sights in Rust on Lake Neusiedl.

The artist and restorer Catherine Sica carried out the restoration work she had planned herself and opened the Kunsthaus Rust on April 13, 2008 . The building, which is integrated into the townscape of Rust with its typical architecture, was also supplemented by an artistically designed garden with the restored press house , which also houses the original press .

Exhibitions

The Kunsthaus shows a permanent exhibition "Icons of Modernism" by Catherine Sica as well as jewelry and designer furnishings.

In addition, every year five to seven artists exhibit their works in the Kunsthaus within the framework of a specific topic, which are often created especially for the project in the Kunsthaus. The photographer Manfred Baumann was also represented with an exhibition of his photographs in the Kunsthaus. Examples of other artists who have presented their works at the Kunsthaus Rust are Helmut Kand (2010), Alois Mattersberger (2012), Hans Beletz (2013) and Patricia Jaqueline (2014).
