Manfred Baumann (born March 1, 1968 in Vienna ) is an Austrian photographer . He mainly deals with portrait photography, landscape photography and nude photography .

Life

Baumann grew up in Hietzing , Vienna's 13th district , where he also went to school. After completing secondary school, he began an apprenticeship at the Viennese trading company Julius Meinl at the age of 16 and was also a branch manager there for a year. In 1995 he moved to Canada to work as a photographer. After two years he had to return to Vienna, where he continued to work as a freelance photographer. To this day, he describes his grandfather, who himself worked as a photographer, as one of his greatest sources of inspiration. It was also he who supported his talent by giving him his first camera, a Praktica , as a present.

In 2002 Baumann began to photograph well-known personalities. In 2005, with the help of a friend, he managed to arrange a shoot with Roger Moore . This was followed by shootings with Toni Garrn , Kirk Douglas , Paul Anka , Tony Curtis , David Hasselhoff , John Malkovich , William Shatner , Don Johnson , Jack Black and Bruce Willis, among others .

The collaboration with the National Geographic Society began in 2013, and the collaboration with Leica in 2016 . In autumn 2017 Baumann exhibited in a museum for the first time, and his exhibition on Mustangs was shown in the Natural History Museum in Vienna .

In 2014, he staged German-speaking celebrities such as Michael Mittermeier , Jeanette Biedermann and Roberto Blanco for the international animal protection organization Vier Pfoten as part of the campaign More humanity for animals . Since 2016 he has also been teaching at the Leica Academy worldwide.

In 2017/2018 he was a testimonial for Huawei international alongside Robert Lewandowski . In 2018/2019 he presented his exhibition “ Vienna ” in the Vienna Grand Hotel , in February 2019 his first exhibition took place in Australia.

Manfred Baumann is married. He lives and works in Austria and the USA. He is a vegetarian and supports various animal welfare organizations. Baumann and his wife Nelly Baumann are honorary ambassadors for Jane Goodall .

Manfred Baumann's photographs are published in a wide variety of specialist photo magazines such as Fotomagazin , Photographie , Chip Magazin or Digital Photographer Magazine .

His photos are also regularly published in popular magazines such as Playboy , FHM , GQ and Stern .
