The Kurinchippattu ( குறிஞ்சிப்பாட்டு Kuṟiñcippāṭṭu [ ˈkurɨɲʒipːaːʈːɯ ] "the mountain poem") is a work of Old Tamil Sangam literature . It is a longer single poem in the genre of love poetry ( agam ). Within the Sangam literature it belongs to the group of the "ten chants" ( Pattuppattu ).

The Kurinchippattu has a length of 261 lines and is Agaval written -Versmaß. It is attributed to the author Kabilar . Of the two genres of sangam literature, love and hero poetry, the Kurinchippattu belongs to the genre of love poetry ( agam ). In a conventional way, it tells the story of a hero and a heroine who meet in the mountain landscape and begin a love affair. In the old Tamil love poetry, this theme is linked to the mountain landscape ( kurinchi ), one of the “ five landscapes ” of the Agam genre. The title of the work is also derived from this.

The dating of the Sangam literature is highly uncertain. On the basis of linguistic and stylistic criteria, however, a period of origin in the 5th century is suggested for the Kurinchippattu .
