It is located at the bus stop next to the Waldesruh restaurant on Eibenstocker Straße in the Steinbach district of the western Ore Mountains town of Johanngeorgenstadt in the Ore Mountains .

history

Johanngeorgenstadt was one of the first cities in the Electorate of Saxony to receive a whole, a half-mile column and a quarter milestone in 1725. Zürner personally determined the locations for this in November 1722. The quarter milestone No. 55 was 13¾ miles from Leipzig and should be located at Schallbrücken after the Königl. Holtze received a Streuchlein on J.-G.Städter Erb-Refier behind Steinbach after the last Pochwerck left behind . Master stonemason Geilsdorff from Zwickau took on the order for the production of this column . Payment was made from the city council's treasury.

Even after the introduction of the new mile measurement after 1840, the quarter milestone remained at its old location not far from the bridge over the Steinbach. When he was hit several times due to the proximity to the road, he was given his new, protected space at the said bus stop in May 1971.
