Kurt Gerhard Baller (born October 16, 1947 in Radebeul ; pseudonym: Bert Kurall ) is a German author , historian and journalist .

Life

Kurt Baller was visually impaired from birth and for this reason attended special schools for the blind and visually impaired until he graduated from high school. From 1967 he studied German and history at the Pedagogical University in Potsdam. Among the professors he studied with were the linguist Wilhelm Schmidt, the literary scholar Hans Marnette and the historian Kurt Finker .

After graduation, the originally planned teaching profession was not possible. He accepted a position as a full-time functionary of the FDJ and the FDGB in various companies and institutions. From 1981 he began his work as a historian, which he practiced until 1990.

In 1991 he took up a second degree, which he completed in 1992 as a qualified social pedagogue. Until 2003 he worked as a social worker. Then began his freelance writing.
