Kurt Buchinger

Kurt Buchinger (born September 16, 1935 in Kaidling , Moravia ; † January 27, 2019 in Horn ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and federal civil servant. From 1964 to 1993 he was a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament .

Life

Buchinger's family was expelled from Moravia in 1945, whereupon Buchinger graduated from secondary school in Retz . In 1956 he entered the service of the Federal Office for Surveying . He joined the Austrian youth movement in 1949 and became its district chairman in 1952. In 1959 he became a member of the state youth leadership, and between 1962 and 1971 he was regional chairman. In addition, from 1974 to 1994 he was regional chairman of the ÖAAB and between 1980 and 1990 local councilor in Horn . Buchinger represented the ÖVP from November 19, 1964 to June 7, 1993 in the Lower Austrian state parliament, at which time Buchinger was the longest serving member of the state parliament of Lower Austria. He also held the position of chairman of the financial control committee from 1974. Buchinger was honorary chairman of the Horn ÖVP district organization.
