Kurt Ebel

Kurt Ebel (born October 27, 1906 in Solingen ; † December 16, 2004 in Cologne ) was a German lawyer , politician and banker .

Born the son of a master butcher, Ebel studied law in Cologne. During his studies he became a member of the Germania Cologne fraternity in 1927 . After his exams he worked in the city ​​administration of Solingen and as a legal advisor for the city of Duisburg before he became mayor of Kleve in 1936 . In 1929 he became a member of the NSDAP (membership number 157.211). In 1942 he came under pressure after a speech at the 700th anniversary of the city of Kleve, which is why he had to resign from his position as mayor and was drafted into military service. During the Second World War he was taken prisoner of war . After his release he went to Radevormwald , later to Eitorf . After a short time as an authorized signatory , he became the owner of a private bank in Cologne.

Ebel was married to Hilde nee Maas (1914–1997). He died in 2004 at the age of 98 and was buried in the Melaten cemetery in Cologne (hall 5 in P).
