Life

Kurt Eberhard Goellner was born in Hanover in 1880. From 1909 to 1914 he studied at the Dresden Art Academy , first painting with Carl Bantzer and later sculpture. From 1919 he had his own studio in Dresden and worked as a freelancer. His works showed dreamy figures from antiquity , shaped by Art Nouveau . For health reasons as a result of a back injury in World War I , he later had to give up sculpture and concentrated on painting. By leasing the Pillnitz Elbe Island, many island landscapes were created and he was affectionately known as the island painter. He lived in Söbrigen near Dresden and was buried in the Hosterwitzer cemetery .
