Kurt Eulenburg

Kurt Albert Max Eulenburg (born February 22, 1879 in Leipzig , † April 10, 1982 in London ), son of Ernst Eulenburg , was a German music publisher who took over the publishing management of Eulenburg Musikverlag in 1911 .

Life

Kurt Eulenburg joined his father's publishing house in 1905 as a publisher with a fresh doctorate. In 1911 he took over the management of the publishing house. After the death of his father in 1926, he became the sole owner and in 1939 founded the British subsidiary Ernst Eulenburg Ltd. in London. In the same year the publishing house was expropriated by the National Socialists and Eulenburg fled into exile in Switzerland . After the end of the war, he and his family moved to London and established branches in Zurich (1947) and Stuttgart (1950). After Schott Music Ltd. took over the publishing house in 1957 . (London) Eulenburg managed the business until he left in 1968 and was responsible for the pocket score series. Eulenburg died in London at the age of 103.
