Kurt Frings

Kurt Frings (born October 5, 1908 in Germany , † August 29, 1991 in California , USA ) was a German-American boxer and artist agent .

Life and work

Kurt Frings was a nephew of the German Archbishop and Cardinal Joseph Frings , who had publicly criticized the persecution of Jews during the Nazi era . Kurt Frings was born in Germany in 1908, was a boxer (lightweight champion) and met the American screenwriter, writer and later Pulitzer Prize winner Ketti Hartley (1909-1981) in France in 1937, where he was working as a ski instructor . Both married in 1939 and, since he did not have an American visa, first settled in the Mexican border town of Tijuana , from where the couple commuted to Hollywood every day . He did not receive an entry permit until 1940.

Frings established himself as an artist agent in Hollywood and in this role looked after Audrey Hepburn , Elizabeth Taylor , Eva Marie Saint , Maria Schell , Hildegard Knef , José Ferrer , Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz .

The marriage with Ketti Frings, from which two children emerged, was divorced in 1963. Kurt Frings died in California in 1991 at the age of 82.
