Kurt Haseloff

Kurt Haseloff (born March 18, 1894 in Metz , † September 30, 1978 in Munich ) was a German officer , most recently major general in World War II .

Life

Haseloff joined the army on August 3, 1914, when the First World War broke out . Haseloff became a flag boy on March 22, 1915 and a lieutenant on May 15, 1915 .

During the National Socialist era , Haseloff rose to the rank of colonel on December 1, 1939 . On March 1, 1941, Kurt Haseloff became the commander of the 5th Rifle Brigade (renamed 5th Panzer Grenadier Brigade on July 5, 1942, later disbanded in 1942, see 5th Panzer Division ).

With promotion to major general on January 1, 1943, he was transferred to headquarters, where he remained until August 11, 1944. After the assassination attempt on July 20, 1944 , he was relieved of his duties and released from active service on February 1, 1945 on behalf of Himmler . Haseloff was to be transferred to a prison camp, but this was no longer carried out.

Kurt Haseloff died on September 30, 1978 in Munich.
