Kurt Hipper
Kurt Hipper (born November 8, 1932 in Zurich ; † February 10, 2009 in Johannesburg ) was a German rower .
Kurt Hipper from RV Neptun Konstanz finished in 1952 at the German Championships in one second behind Waldemar Beck . In 1956 he formed a double scull with Thomas Schneider and won the German championship title. At the European Championships , the two received the silver medal behind Yuri Tjukalow and Alexander Berkutow from the Soviet Union.
At the Olympic Games in Melbourne in 1956 , the Soviet double scull won ahead of Schneider and Hipper. The two Germans qualified as the winners of the second hope run for the final, which was attended by four boats. In the final, Tjukalow and Berkutow won eight seconds ahead of the boat from the United States. Four seconds behind the third-placed Australians, Schneider and Hipper took fourth place.
Kurt Hipper later emigrated to South Africa and represented the country at FISA .
