Kurt Horedt (born March 30, 1914 in Sibiu , Transylvania , † December 19, 1991 in Munich ) was a prehistorian in Transylvania.

Horedt came from a family of Transylvanian Saxons and passed the state examination for history in Cluj in 1936 , after which he went to Germany to study prehistory. He studied in Kiel and Leipzig and finally received his doctorate in 1939 under Kurt Tackenberg in Bonn. The subject of the dissertation was the Wietenberg culture, the eponymous site of which was excavated by Horedt's grandfather Carl Seraphin . After the Second World War he worked as a professor of prehistory and early history in Klausenburg. In addition to his prehistoric research interests, he turned to the early Middle Ages, as for political reasons research into the Slavs was required. In 1968/69 Horedt directed the salvage of the second prince's grave from Apahida . In 1981 Horedt emigrated to the Federal Republic of Germany.
