Kurt Johnen (media scientist)

Kurt Johnen (* 1944 ) is a German author and professor of aesthetics and communication at the Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences .

Life

After an apprenticeship as a shop window designer, he studied in Wiesbaden to become a specialist teacher for art education and crafts. This course was followed by a further course at the University of Fine Arts in Kassel .

Kurt Johnen worked as a freelance writer and director for Westdeutscher Rundfunk from 1970 to 1977 .

In 1977 he was appointed professor for aesthetics and communication in the department of social affairs at the Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences. From 1988 he took over film training in the design department. In 2009 he retired .

Kurt Johnen is involved in film and multimedia productions and the establishment of the Bielefeld Film House and the Murnau Society .
