Kurt Metzner

Kurt Otto Friedrich Metzner (born May 6, 1895 in Halle (Saale) , † after 1943) was a German publisher and cultural politician.

Life

Kurt Metzner was born on May 6, 1895 in Halle (Saale) , where he attended the Latina of the Pietistically oriented Francke Foundations from 1904 . After studying philosophical, literary and natural sciences, he received practical training from 1921 to 1926 at PAN Verlag R. Heise, which was based in the Charlottenburg district . In 1925, Metzner became a co-owner alongside Rolf Heise. Arthur Liebert , Emil Utitz and Rudolf Stammler were among the main authors of the publishing house . Mainly the publisher published philosophical writings, including publications of the Kant Society and the " source handbooks of philosophy ".

In 1936 Metzner became a full-time employee of the Reichsschrifttumskammer , as a department head of the "Group of Writers". In 1937 he became a member of the NSDAP . Later Metzner also became an employee of the writers' association " Reichswerk Buch und Volk ". Within the Reichsschrifttumskammer, Metzner gave the journal Der deutsche Schriftsteller. Magazine for the writers in the Reichsschrifttumskammer out.

Metzner was appointed Ministerialrat and worked in the cultural policy department of the Foreign Office from 1943 .

After the end of World War II, Metzner was placed on the list of authors in the Soviet zone of occupation , "whose entire production is to be permanently removed".
