Kurt Petzold (musician)

Kurt Petzold was a Vogtland folk musician and composer. The most widespread was his mazurka Mei glorious Vogtland .

Life

Little details are known about the life of Petzold, who came from the town of Mylau . He composed and wrote all of his songs himself. Following the example of Anton Günther , Hans Soph and Hilmar Mückenberger , he published a large number of them on song postcards , which he distributed himself in Mylau. He worked closely with the Hofkunstanstalt Löffler & Co., Greiz . Some of the songs were published in the Vogtländische Liederkarten series of this publisher. In addition, there was the series Vogtland songs and dances , in which the songs and compositions of Petzold were partially recorded.

This song postcard appeared in several editions up to the end of the Second World War in the Hofkunstanstalt Löffler & Co., Greiz, and was under their design protection. The cards were numbered 9038 (colored drawing) and 19093 (black / white drawing).

The cover picture on the front bears the name Vogtland Lute Singers and was taken by Werner Diener. This card was also printed in the Hofkunstanstalt Löffler & Co. in Greiz and was later given the number 21514.
