Kurt Preiss

Kurt Preiß (born November 8, 1929 in Krems an der Donau ; † July 1, 2011 there ) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and school director. Preiß was a member of the Austrian National Council between 1982 and 1993 .

education and profession

After primary school, Preiß attended a grammar school, which he graduated from in 1947 with the Matura . He then studied at the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Vienna and received his doctorate in 1952 . In 1953 he also passed the teaching examination for German, Latin and philosophy. He then worked as a teacher at general secondary schools in Vienna, Styria and Lower Austria. Until his retirement he was director of the Bundesrealgymnasium Krems . He was given the professional title of Hofrat .

politics

Preiss was a trade union official and member of the college of the state school council for Lower Austria. From 1972 to 1982 he was Vice Mayor of the city of Krems an der Donau and from 1982 was district chairman of the SPÖ Krems in 1982. In addition, from 1975 he was active as a representative of the Association of Social Democratic Academics, Intellectuals and Artists (BSA) and a member of several supervisory boards. Preiß represented the SPÖ in the National Council from October 9, 1982 to January 28, 1993.
