Kurt Schweizer

Kurt Schweizer (born September 2, 1921 , † April 26, 2004 ) was a Swiss journalist and politician ( SP ).

Life

As a student, Schweizer wrote for the Bernese Tagwacht , of which he was editor-in-chief from 1963 to 1967. In 1955 he became a city ​​councilor in Bern . From 1968 to 1984 he was a councilor for the city of Bern ; he headed the management of the city operations. In the local council, Schweizer campaigned for a “homely city” in Bern.

At a federal hearing in November 1971, he said:

«The tram to Bümpliz is an urgent necessity, explained Schweizer (soc.); this would have to be guided as far as possible on its own route. All road crossings should be provided with traffic lights that can be influenced by the tram. Schweizer once again broke the ground for subsidizing agglomeration traffic with federal funds. "
