Kurt Wagner (born April 10, 1957 in Vienna ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). Since 1995 he has been a member of the Vienna State Parliament and a member of the Vienna City Council .

education and profession

Kurt Wagner attended elementary and secondary school and then completed the commercial school of the Fund of the Vienna Merchants' Association for three years . He then took numerous programming courses and was a programmer between 1981 and 1988. In addition, Wagner attended lectures on actuarial mathematics as a guest student at the University of Vienna and, from 1988, completed trainer seminars, courses and lectures as a behavioral trainer, as well as for educational issues and personnel development.

Wagner has been an employee of the Austrian Civil Service Insurance Company since August 1974 and chairman of the works council from 1983 to 2010. He was appointed as a dispatcher in 1993 and as an authorized representative in 1997. Wagner has been the executive secretary since November 2006.

Politics and union

After his employment with the Austrian Civil Service Insurance, Kurt Wagner became a member of the Private Employees' Union (GPA) and was elected Works Council Chairman and Supervisory Board of the Civil Service Insurance in 1983. Since 1987 he has been a board member of the insurance section and since May 1993 a member of the presidium of the GPA insurance section. In May 1994 Wagner was elected federal parliamentary group chairman of the insurance section, since autumn 1995 he has been a member of the federal control of the GPA and a member of the federal forum in the GPA. Wagner currently holds the position of federal and state chairman of the insurance employees in the GPA.

Kurt Wagner is heavily involved in the Wieden district . He was elected to the board of the ARBÖ -Wieden in 1975 and was chairman of the Young Generation Wieden between 1978 and 1991 . From 1983 to 1995 he represented the SPÖ as a district councilor in the Wiedener district council before moving to the Vienna state parliament and local council in 1995. In the 18th legislative period he is a member of the “Health and Social Affairs” committee.

In 1995 Wagner was elected to the Wieden district party executive and as deputy district party chairman. Since 1997 he has been the district chairman of the SPÖ-Wieden.

Private

Kurt Wagner is the son of the railway employee Leonhard Wagner and the housewife Friederike Wagner. He has been married since 1979 and has two sons and a daughter.
