Kurt Weidmann

Kurt Weidmann (born August 8, 1937 in Darmstadt ; † June 1, 2014 ibid) was a German politician ( SPD ) and a member of the Hessian state parliament .

Education and career

Kurt Weidmann studied law in Frankfurt am Main and Würzburg and worked as a lawyer and notary . In 1980 he moved to the city council of Darmstadt. There he became deputy mayor of the city council in 1985 and city councilor in 1997. In 1995 he became sub-district chairman of the SPD.

In the early state elections in Hesse in 1987 he was elected to the state parliament, to which he belonged for three terms from April 5, 1987 to April 4, 1999. He was elected as a direct candidate in the constituency of Darmstadt-Stadt I. In the state parliament from 1994 he was the parliamentary manager of the SPD parliamentary group as well as deputy chairman of the SPD parliamentary group, deputy chairman of the subcommittee of the penal system and the legal committee and chaired the investigation committee 13/1.

Kurt Weidmann was married and had three daughters.
