Kurt Wiedemann

Kurt Wiedemann (born June 20, 1899 in Dresden ; † March 3, 1982 ) was a German printer , economist and cultural functionary.

Life

Kurt Wiedemann was born in the Saxon state capital Dresden and after completing school he started training as a printer. He went to the Technical University of Dresden as a guest student . In order to receive money for the direct study, he worked at the same time as an assistant teacher at the technical colleges in Dresden, where he taught economics, German and history as well as civics and economic geography / history. He completed his studies in 1927 with a degree in economics, having previously made up for his Abitur.

His professional activity as a teacher came to an abrupt end after the Nazis came to power in 1933, as he was dismissed from the public service and unemployed due to his membership in the KPD , which he had already joined in 1919. Through his many years of personal acquaintance with Prof. Dr. Musemann, he was nevertheless able to maintain a connection with the Technical University, where he was awarded a Dr. rer. pole. PhD. The topic of his dissertation was the population development in the north-east Saxon heathland and in the state of Saxony for 100 years. A contribution to the statistical-geographical procedure in spatial research and appeared in print as a university publication.

After the end of the Second World War, Kurt Wiedemann became a lecturer at the Technical College in Dresden. When the Saxon state government was newly formed in Dresden, he was given the management of the state planning of Saxony and later the office of head of the urban development and architecture department at the Dresden District Council. In his work he mainly devoted himself to Saxon Switzerland , for whose protection as a landscape protection area he campaigned several times. So he played a significant role in the formation of a landscape advisory board.

Kurt Wiedemann achieved lasting merits through his unselfish advocacy of complex landscape maintenance and design, the constant endeavor to further education and the transfer of knowledge and experience .
