Kurt Wolfsdorf

Kurt Wolfsdorf (born February 16, 1950 in Berlin ) is a German actuary and manager .

Life

Wolfsdorf studied mathematics, logic, linguistics and computer science at the TU Berlin and the FU Berlin between 1969 and 1975 . After graduating, he worked in the mathematics department of the TU until 1982. In 1978 he received his doctorate and in 1982 he completed his habilitation. Until 1990 he worked as a private lecturer at the TU, then until 1996 as an adjunct professor.

From 1982 to 1989, Wolfsdorf worked as a consultant in the Federal Insurance Supervisory Office , in the meantime he worked as a government advisor in Brunei and Indonesia on behalf of the EC .

In 1989 Wolfsdorf moved to Hamburg-Mannheimer , where he took over the department head for mathematics and accounting at the insurance company. In 1991 he was appointed to the company's board of directors. In 1998 Wolfsdorf left Hamburg-Mannheimer and went to AXA-Colonia , where he sat on the board for two years. Between 2000 and 2006 he was Managing Director of B&W Deloitte GmbH, the consulting firm for the insurance division of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu .

In 2006 he became chairman of the board of directors of Hamburg-Mannheimer Versicherungs-AG and Victoria Lebensversicherung AG , as well as a member of the board of ERGO Versicherungsgruppe AG . The collaboration was ended in September 2007.

Wolfsdorf has been a partner in the auditing company Deloitte & Touche since June 2008.

In addition to his professional activity at insurance companies and in consulting, Wolfsdorf also works for the German Insurance Association (GDV) and the German Actuarial Association (DAV). From 1991 to 1999 he was a member of several specialist committees of the GDV. In 1995 he was appointed to the board of the DAV for the first time. From 1999 to 2003 he was the deputy chairman of the professional organization, then its chairman until April 2005. From May 2005 to April 2007 he was again a deputy, since May 2007 he has been an ordinary member of the committee. Kurt Wolfsdorf was President of the IAA in 2013 .
