Kurth Weisser

Kurth Weisser (born March 29, 1939 ) is a former German soccer player. In the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football , he was active for SC Neubrandenburg .

Athletic career

At the age of eleven, Kurth Weisser began to play organized football in 1950 for the company sports association Energie Neubrandenburg. In the course of his football career, the BSG appeared as BSG Turbine, Sportclub (1962) and football game association (FSV) or BSG Post (1966). As BSG Turbine, the Neubrandenburg team rose in 1957 to the third-class 2nd GDR league and in 1962 to the 1st GDR league . Kurth Weisser was also involved on both occasions. As a sports club, the Neubrandenburger competed in the first GDR league in the 1962/63 season, Weisser was called up in all 26 point games. For the 1963/64 season there was only the GDR League, as the II. League had been discontinued. There were now 30 point games played, of which Weisser played 26. The sports club ended the season as a climber in the GDR league. Of the 26 league games played in 1964/65, Weisser completed 25 matches and was together with Hans-Joachim Steinfurth with seven goals the most successful goalscorer of the Neubrandenburg. These could not keep the class and were relegated to the GDR league after a year. In the GDR league season 1965/66, in which the soccer section was spun off from SC Neubrandenburg and initially as FSV, shortly afterwards as BSG Post, Weisser was absent from eleven of the 30 game days due to injury. In the following three seasons from 1966 to 1969 he missed a total of only four GDR league games, but with 17, 10 and 13 goals each was the top scorer of the Neubrandenburg. At the age of 30 he started his last season in high-class football in 1968. By the end of the season, he was only used four times in league games and scored no more goals. After his eight seasons in the two top football leagues in GDR football, he was able to look back on 186 point matches, in which he was successful with 68 goals.
