back

It probably got its popular name Kurzkreuz from its small size, the geometric shape of which is reminiscent of an angel. The small cross is made of sandstone , has moderate signs of weathering and the dimensions 85 × 95 × 30 cm. There are large segment supports under the crossbeams. The shaft widens towards the bottom. The right arm is shortened. Incisions are no longer recognizable today (2020).

history

The stone cross is probably a typical accident cross or atonement cross .

Rudi Buchner, a stone cross researcher, noticed the following incised signs during his inventory around 1930: A ploughshare , half a wolf tang (possibly also a sword ) and arrowheads.

Nothing is known about the exact time, the reason for the installation and any legends. The cross is not entered on historical maps from around 1850.
