location

The half-timbered house was located at the southern end of Mägdesprungs in the Untere Kreisstraße opposite the cast iron groups on Hüttenplatz. The inn is registered in the local monument register.

Architecture and history

The origin of the hut tavern goes back to the founding contract of the ironworks Mägdesprung from November 9th, 1646, which among other things granted the bar . The half-timbered house was built as a hut tavern at the beginning of the 18th century. It was first mentioned in 1710. In the middle of the 19th century it was expanded to include an inn. In 1867 the property was leased by Traugott Wenzel, a councilor of commerce, and sold to the hotelier Hermann Meves in 1907. After that, the hotel and inn came into the possession of the Brumme family through marriage. A three-storey extension was added on the south side later, but still in the course of the 19th century. The half-timbered extension was used as a hotel. It has the loggias typical of the Harz region . The overall complex also included a garden bar and a vehicle shed .

Most recently, only the northern part of the property was managed as a restaurant under the name Kutscherstube . In the first decades of the 20th century, the hotel extension was still known as a Kurhaus, was used as a rest home for the Otto von Guericke Magdeburg University of Applied Sciences from the 1970s , has been vacant since the 1990s and is in need of renovation.

The building caught fire on the morning of July 2, 2018 and was destroyed in the process.
