Kvenvik ( North Sami : Covošluovta ) is a small village on the Altafjord in the Alta municipality in the Fylke (province) of Troms og Finnmark , Norway .
Kvenvik is on the European route 6 (E6), approximately nine kilometers west of the town of Alta . 202 people live in Kvenvik.
The place was first mentioned in 1567 under the name Kvænangen . In 1744 Major Schnitler described it as a village that was abandoned by its residents. However, residents later settled in Kvenvik again.
The village is near the village of Kåfjord , where the German battleship Tirpitz was temporarily anchored during the Second World War .
