Adjacent to the courtyard is a lime kiln and a port for shipping. Carl von Linné stayed at strandridaregården during his visit to Gotland in 1741 .

Raukgebiet

The Rauk area south of strandridaregården, which is not directly on the coast, is a nature reserve and belongs to the EU network Natura 2000 .

From a botanical point of view, the port of Kyllaj is known for the occurrence of rare species that were probably introduced by seafaring. Spring figwort ( scrophularia vernalis L. ) grows when lime is loaded north of the port and near the sheds south of the port . Here you can even find annual cranberry ( mercurialis annua L. ), which was first found growing on spoil heaps in 1878 and has now spread in the area. About three hundred meters northwest of Strandridargården is an old gravel pit, where you can find the rare grape germander ( teucrium botrys L. ), which was first sighted in 1945, then a new species in Sweden.
