Kynosura (place)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The name Kynosura ( Greek  Κυνόσουρα ) was used to describe several locations in Greece, including a cape on Salamis (today's Kynosoura ), a headland in the Bay of Marathon , a district of Sparta and a stretch of land in the Megaris (between Athens and Corinth ).

In Crete, on the other hand, a village is said to have derived its name from the nymph Kynosura , a nurse of Zeus .
