KYO is a French rock group from the late 1990s and early 2000s.
history
The four band members from the Yvelines department already knew each other from school when they recognized their common love for rock music in the style of Nirvana , Pearl Jam or Rage Against the Machine . Little by little they gave several concerts at schools and in the Paris region . In 1997 they met their manager Yves-Michel Aklé at a music competition, who helped them get a record deal with SONY BMG.
Her first album Kyo was released in March 2000, but it was only a modest success. They also opened up for Indochine , David Hallyday and Placebo . At the beginning of 2003 their second album Le Chemin ("Der Weg") was released, which sold over 600,000 times and finally gave them their breakthrough.
In January 2004 they were honored four times for their success at the NRJ Music Awards. In December of the same year their third album 300 Lésions was released , which reached gold status after just one week. The preliminary single Contact also achieved success in the partly French-speaking part of Switzerland . At the end of 2005, Kyo announced to fans that they wanted to take a break until their fourth album, the actual release of which was scheduled for 2008, was completed. Until then, the band members devoted themselves to their own projects.
In 2006 they composed and played the song L'Or de nos vies for Fight Aids Monaco.
Meanwhile singer Benoît wrote songs for the French singers Thierry Amiel ("L'amour en face") and Emmanuel Moire ("Le sourire").
In 2007 they each worked on their own projects in the band's new studio. Ben and Flo founded their own band, Empyr , with musicians friends from the bands Watcha , Pleymo and Vegastar and released their first album The Peaceful Riot on May 12, 2008 .
