Cyril of Constantinople
Cyril of Constantinople , also Kyrillos of Constantinople (* around 1138; † May 7, 1234 ), was a Carmelite . Possibly he was the Prior of the Carmel on the Carmel Mountains . He is venerated as a saint . A general chapter of the Roman obedience prescribed March 9th in 1399 as a festival in honor of "St. Cyril, doctor of Mount Carmel and confessor". March 6th has been fixed since 1411 and is celebrated as a festival of the order.
In Christian iconography, Cyril is represented with a doctoral cap and a book. The Cyrillic prophecy is associated with his name, probably wrongly .
