Kyrkerör

The passage grave of Kyrkerör located in Falköping in Västergötland in Sweden and is a megalithic site of the Beaker culture (TBK), the v 3500-2800. BC originated. In the city area there are the remains of 15 other passage graves and there are other megalithic complexes that can be visited as part of a guided hike. In the surrounding region, the Falbygden, there are the remains of 240 passage graves (of about 370, about two thirds of the Swedish sites). The passage grave is a form of Neolithic megalithic systems, which consists of a chamber and a structurally separated, lateral passage. This form is primarily found in Denmark, Germany and Scandinavia, as well as occasionally in France and the Netherlands.

description

The complex on "Sankt Olafsgatan" (street) examined in 1858 is one of the better preserved. In addition to a dozen stones in the long corridor, only three of the seven cap stones are missing. The bearing stones of the roughly north-south oriented system are complete. There are five on the west side. The two end stones are in situ, as are the six bearing stones on the east side. The two middle ones are placed diagonally and thus simultaneously form the pair of stones for the mouth of the duct, which in addition to the adjacent pair of bearing stones also has its capstone.

In addition to skeletal remains of humans and animals, pearls made of amber and animal teeth were found. Inside the chamber was also an Iron Age bone ridge . It shows that the passage grave ( swedish gang handle ) was used over 1000 years. After the investigation, the passage grave was restored.

Ballersten

The first one

The Ballersten or Baldersten (RAÄ number: Falköping 29: 1) was originally located about 500 m southwest in the Balderstensgatan and was moved a few meters north of the Kyrkerör during the construction of the railway line. There are around 40 bowls on the stone , which were probably incorporated during the Bronze Age . The age and function of the stone are unclear.
