Falbygden
The Falbygden is a cultural landscape between the lakes Vänern and Vättern in western Sweden . It is located around the central table mountains of Västergötland (the "Falan") and encompasses most of the area of the municipality of Falköping and parts of the municipalities of Tidaholm , Skövde and Skara in a triangle measuring 50 × 50 × 30 km .
Numerous living places and graves from the Stone Age make Falbygden one of the most distinctive Neolithic cultural areas in Europe (e.g. Åttagårdens , Kyrkerör , Lusthushögen, Ragnvalds Grab , Rössberga , Slutarpsdösen and Vårkumla 1 and 2 ). About 270 passage graves ( Swedish gang handle - three quarters of all Swedish megalithic stone graves ) and two dolmens from around 3000 BC. BC as well as burial mounds , menhirs and stone circles indicate the early settlement by an agricultural society. Pollen analyzes confirm the picture of continuous agricultural use to this day.
