László L. Simon (born March 28, 1972 in Székesfehérvár ) is a Hungarian politician of Fidesz - Hungarian Citizens' Union and writer . From June 18, 2012 to February 15, 2013, he was Secretary of State for Culture at the Ministry of Human Resources.

Life

Simon studied history and literature at the Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest . Between 1998 and 2004 he was Chairman of the Union of Young Writers and from 2004 to 2010 Secretary of the Hungarian Writers' Union. He gave the magazine Magyar Műhely , Kortárs and Kommentará out and until 2007 was chief editor of Szepirodalmi Figyelő .

Simon was elected as a Fidesz candidate in the National Assembly of Hungary for Gárdony ( Fejér county ) in 2010. From May 14, 2010 to June 18, 2012 he was Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Culture and Freedom of the Press. After Géza Szőcs resigned , the new minister Zoltán Balog appointed him State Secretary for Culture on June 18, 2012. After eight months he was released due to differences with the minister. Simon was elected chairman of the Committee on Culture and Press Freedom for the second time on March 1, 2013. From June 15, 2014 to July 5, 2016, he was Minister for Monument Protection and Capital Projects in the Prime Minister's Office. In the 2018 parliamentary elections, he was elected MEP for the third time by Fidesz. He is the deputy chairman of the parliamentary culture committee.

László L. Simon is married and has four children. He lives with his family in Agárd .
