Cross-border organization for groundwater protection on the Rhine

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

LOGAR is the abbreviation for transnational organization for groundwater protection on the Rhine (French: Liaison Opérationnelle pour la Gestion de l'Aquifère Rhénan ).

Since the 1990s, cooperation on groundwater protection has been one of the top priorities in cross-border cooperation on the Upper Rhine . LOGAR is the tenth EU-funded groundwater protection project; The development of databases and the creation of models for measuring the pollutant input are promoted here , as well as the formation of a specialist network.

On the German side, the project is co-financed by the Baden-Württemberg State Institute for Environment, Measurements and Nature Conservation and the Agricultural Technology Center Augustenberg (LTZ), on the French side by the Agence de l'eau Rhin-Meuse (Rhine-Maas Water Agency), the Alsace region ( region Alsace ) and the French Ministère de l'Environnement et du Développement Durable (BRGM, Ministry of environment and sustainable development). Other specialist partners are the French organizations Association pour la protection de la nappe phréatique de la plaine d'Alsace ( APRONA ) and Association pour la Relance Agronomique en Alsace ( ARAA ) as well as the Baden-Württemberg State Office for Geology, Raw Materials and Mining (LGRB) at Regional council Freiburg.

Since 1993 there has therefore been a common database and common criteria for assessing the groundwater in the Upper Rhine aquifer . In addition, knowledge about the movement and transport of the various pollutants in the groundwater flow can be obtained.
