Längelmäki [ ˈlæŋːɛlmæki ] is a former municipality in Finland . Today the former municipality is divided between the towns of Jämsä and Orivesi .

Längelmäki lies on the border of the Pirkanmaa and Central Finland landscapes . The community center was Länkipohja, which is halfway between Orivesi (26 kilometers west) and Jämsä (27 kilometers east). In total, the municipal area covered an area of 496.9 km² (73.3 km² of which were inland waterways). The community of Längelmäki last had 1,658 inhabitants.

Längelmäki was detached from Orivesi as an independent parish in 1640 and initially also included the Kuorevesi chapel community , which became independent in 1881. At the beginning of 2007 the community Längelmäki was dissolved; the western part of the municipality came to the city of Orivesi, the eastern part including the community center and two thirds of the population to the city of Jämsä. This divided the area between the Pirkanmaa and Central Finland landscapes. At the time of its municipal independence, Längelmäki belonged to Pirkanmaa.

The main attraction of Längelmäki is the wooden church from 1772.
