The larch Reizker ( Lactarius porninsis ), also larch Milchling called, is an edible mushroom art from the family of Täublingsverwandten (Russulaceae). The medium-sized, edible Milchling is colored uniformly orange and has a more or less zoned hat. Its milk is white and tastes mild to bitter. The milkling, which is common in the Alps, only occurs under larches. The fruiting bodies appear from July to October.

features

The hat measures 5–10 cm in diameter, it is hardly depressed and has a curled edge when young. With age it becomes funnel-shaped. It is evenly orange in color, sometimes with an indistinct concentric zone. The stem is colored like the hat, approx. 6 cm high and 1 cm wide. It is slightly pitted on the outside and quickly becomes hollow on the inside. The slats are dark ocher in color and are densely packed. The spore print is looser. The flesh is whitish or pale ocher. The milk is also white and tastes mild or slightly bitter. Despite the white milk, the species is one of the stimulus kernels that otherwise only include milk lumps with colored milk.

distribution and habitat

The fungus only grows under larches. It is rare in northern Europe, but common in the Alps.

The larch-irritant is edible, but is not considered a particularly good edible mushroom.
