Jiřina Bohdalová (born May 3, 1931 in Prague ) is a Czech theater , film and television actress .

Life

She had her first film appearances as a child, including in 1940 when she was nine years old in Václav Binovec ' Madla zpívá Evropě . However, she began her professional career as a teacher and kindergarten teacher. In the mid-1950s she found film again and studied at the theater faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague until 1957 . Then she played in the ABC Theater together with Jan Werich . Since 1967 she has been a member of the Divadlo na Vinohradech .

She started her film acting career in 1956 with Milan Vosmik's Honzíkova cesta . She often appeared in musical comedies that were very popular with domestic audiences: in 1966 she was successful in the role of tram conductor Marie in Ladislav Rychman's Dáma na kolejích . Since the 1970s she also appeared frequently in television films and series, often under Jindřich Polák . She played the leading female role in Karel Steklýs Všichni proti všem (1977) and Aunt Evženie in the Czech-German co-production Der Zauberrabe Rumburak (1984).

Since 1985 she has had the title of "honored artist". She also gained popularity as a reader of children's fairy tales in children's programs. She is also active in dubbing . Her daughter Simona Stašová is also a well-known actress.

In the 1990s, Jiřina Bohdalová was suspected of having worked with the communist secret police StB . In court, however, it emerged that she had been wrongly found in the publicly made lists of employees of the secret police, despite the fact that her family was persecuted in the 1950s and her father had spent six years in prison.
