A house with a thousand faces (original title: My všichni školou povinní ) is a Czechoslovak television series that was also broadcast on East German television. The script for the series was written by Markéta Zinnerová and directed by Ludvík Ráža .

The focus of the action is the young teacher Michal Karfík (Miroslav Vladyka), who has just completed his teaching degree and is now starting his first job in a school in Liberec . He has to cope with all sorts of problems and challenges, but also experiences the beautiful sides of his job.
The series tells episodes from the everyday life of a Czechoslovak school, its teachers, students and their families, the connecting and recurring element of which is the teacher Michal Karfík. In general, however, interpersonal relationships are the central theme of the series. The individual episodes always focus on other families and their stories about love, friendship and comradeship, but also about envy and intrigue and very "ordinary" everyday problems. In this way, the series deals with many problems that are still, or especially, very topical today.
The individual episodes are mostly self-contained, but also build on one another. Occasionally, however, certain storylines are further developed or taken up again over several episodes.
