Jiří Sovák
Jiří Sovák (born December 27, 1920 in Prague as Jiří Schmitzer ; † September 6, 2000 there ) was a Czech actor .
biography
Sovák first learned the profession of electrician and worked alongside as an amateur actor. Eventually he shifted his professional focus entirely to acting and attended the Prague Conservatory of Drama. In 1942 he got his first stage engagement in Prague. After the end of the Second World War , the renowned stage actor, who had been part of the Prague National Theater ensemble for decades , also increasingly worked for film productions.
Sovák became popular through roles in comics. He played these in films of a wide variety of genres, including the fantastic film ( I killed Einstein ), crime thrillers ( old crime cases ), and children's and youth series ( The Flying Ferdinand , Pan Tau ). The court magician Theophil Vigo from the imaginative series The Fairy Tale Bride and its sequel The Return of the Fairy Tale Bride is also particularly popular .
On September 6, 2000, Sovák died in his hometown of Prague at the age of 79. His son Jiří Schmitzer (jr.) Also works as an actor.
