Bess Nkabinde

Bess Nkabinde-Mmono , born as Bess Motsatsi (born January 1, 1959 in Silwerkrans ) is a South African lawyer and since 2006 a judge at the Constitutional Court of the Republic of South Africa .

Life

Nkabinde received her school education in Tweespruit in the province of Orange Free State . This was followed by studies at the University of Zululand , which she graduated in 1983. She then moved to Potchefstroom University , where she was awarded a Bachelor of Laws in 1986 . As early as 1984 she entered the public service of her home country and worked in the Ministry of Justice. In 1988, she admitted to the bar and initially completed a practical training at the Bar Association in Johannesburg . She then set up as a lawyer in Mafikeng and dealt with cases in the field of commercial , family and criminal law . In 1993 Nkabinde took part in an advanced training course for lawyers in Canada . Between 1994 and 1995 she was a member of a committee of inquiry that dealt with a riot by guards at Mogvase prison . From 1997 to 1999 she was also a board member of various companies. In February 1999, Nkabinde was appointed judge on the North West High Court in Mafikeng. Just a year later, she was appointed to a judicial position at the Labor Court of South Africa . She held this position until 2003. In October 2004 she became a member of the Labor Appeal Court of South Africa , until she accepted a judge's position on the Supreme Court of Appeal of South Africa in June 2005 . In early 2006 she was finally appointed by Thabo Mbeki as a judge at the Constitutional Court of the Republic of South Africa.
