Léo Joannon

Léo Joannon (born August 21, 1904 in Aix-en-Provence , † March 28, 1969 in Neuilly-sur-Seine ) was a French film director and screenwriter .

Life

Léo Joannon studied law and initially worked as a lawyer before moving to film after the start of the sound film era. Joannon's work included melodramas, comedies, war dramas and crime novels. Critics rated his films as rather superficial and rumor-like, with “The Apostate” with Pierre Fresnay in the lead role, which was rated as “a disturbing film about the 'inalienability of the Catholic priesthood'” , has a special place .

His best-known film is the comedy Atoll K , released in 1951, which is the last film in which the world-famous comedian duo Laurel and Hardy starred.
