Léon Deloy
Léon Deloy ( ; * February 4, 1894 in Paris , † January 21, 1969 in Monaco ) was a French sports shooter and radio amateur .
On November 28, 1923 ( GMT ), he and the American Fred H. Schnell established the first intercontinental two-way radio link on shortwave , from Nice to West Hartford , Connecticut , on a wavelength of around 110 meters.
As a marksman, Deloy took part in the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris and was European champion in Rome in 1930.
Léon Deloy was the grandson of the astronomer Camille Flammarion . He was inducted into the Legion of Honor in 1935 . A road tunnel in Nice is named after him.
