Léon jacquard
Léon Jean Jacquard (born November 3, 1826 in Paris ; † March 27, 1886 there ) was a French cellist and composer .
Life
Jacquard studied at the Paris Conservatory , where he was a student of Louis-Pierre Norblin. In 1855 he became a member of the string quartet Société Armingaud et Jacquard, founded in the same year. In 1876 he married the pianist Laure Bedel (1846–1897) and in 1877 became professor at the Conservatory.
Henri Vieuxtemps , Anton Rubinstein and Charles-Valentin Alkan were among his students and friends .
Édouard Lalo dedicated his Allegro for violoncello and piano op.16 to Jacquard .
