François Joseph Albert Léon de la Fontaine (born November 18, 1819 in Luxembourg ; † February 5, 1892 ibid) was a Luxembourg lawyer, politician and botanist.

Life

On May 21, 1848, he became a member of the Luxembourg Constituante , the constituent assembly, in place of Charles Munchen , who was delegated to the Frankfurt Parliament . From December 14, 1866 to June 18, 1867 he was director general (minister) of justice, initially also of finance, in the de Tornaco government.

From 1867 Léon de la Fontaine was a corresponding member of the natural science society of the Grand Duchy ( Société des Sciences naturelles ), which from 1868 formed the scientific section of the Grand Ducal Institute. He was also a founding member of the botanical society ( Société de botanique or Société botanique ). He was particularly interested in ferns .

Léon de la Fontaine was the son of the former governor Théodore de la Fontaine and the brother of the writer Edmond de la Fontaine ( Dicks ) and the pioneer of Luxembourg zoology, Alphonse de la Fontaine .

Since 1839 he was a member of the Corps Hanseatia Heidelberg.
