Lê Thần Tông

Lê Thần Tông ( Chinese  黎 神宗 , Pinyin Lí Shénzōng , [l̺e.tʰən.toŋ] , *  1607 ; † 1662 ) was the sixth ruler of Annam , who belongs to the Lê dynasty .

Life

Lê Thần Tông was born as Lê Duy Kỳ (黎維祺). He was born in 1607 and ruled from 1619 to 1643. He succeeded Lê Kính Tông , was interrupted by Lê Chân Tông 1643–1649, and finally ruled from 1649 to 1662. He was succeeded by Lê Huyền Tông on the throne. He was a puppet king under Trịnh Tùng , who ruled from 1570 to 1623, then Trịnh Tráng from 1623 to 1657, and then Trịnh Tạc from 1657 to 1682. During this time the country waged war against Champa .
