Lília Momplé

Lília Maria Clara Carrière Momplé (born March 19, 1935 on Ilha de Moçambique , Nampula , Mozambique ) is a Mozambican writer .

biography

After graduating from school in Lourenço Marques , Lília Momplé studied social work at the Instituto Superior de Serviço Social in Lisbon . She spent a year in London in 1964 , returned to Mozambique and lived in Brazil from 1968 to 1971 . In 1971 she returned to Ilha de Moçambique. In 1981 she went to the capital, Maputo, and worked for the Ministry of Culture. From 1995 to 2001 she was Secretary General of the Mozambican Writers' Association (AEMO). From 1997 to 1999 she was its president. She specifically promoted Mozambican women authors. She was also the Mozambican Ambassador to the General Assembly of UNESCO in Paris . In addition, she was nominated for the Executive Council of UNESCO.

Lília Momplé lives in the capital, Maputo.
