The Löwen Play GmbH is a German amusement arcades operators based in Bingen am Rhein . Around 2500 employees look after the 370 arcades and generate around 250 million euros in sales. The largest competitors are the Gauselmann Group and the Schmidt Group .
history
At the end of the 1970s, Löwen Automaten operated its first game centers as “test markets” for product development. Up until the beginning of the 1980s, the commercial success of these arcades was so great that the area of machine installation developed into an independent segment in the company. The number of arcades increased steadily through the acquisition of regional machine operators and the additional expansion of additional arcades. In order to be able to use synergy effects optimally, the companies finally merged in 1990 to form Löwen Play, whose word and image brand "Löwen Play" was already positioned on the market in the mid-80s.
The Dutch ABN Amro Capital acquired Löwen Play in 2001 . Between 2006 and 2008 the financial investor Waterland Private Equity was the majority owner. Since 2008 Loewenplay the private equity -Beteiligungsgesellschaft Ardian Investment indirectly held by Safari Holding GmbH .
Business activity
In addition to conventional gaming machines, there are other entertainment options in most of the gambling halls.
