The Lion Mountain ( English Lion Mountains , originally Portuguese Serra Lyoa or Sierra Lyoa ; also Löwinnenberge (English Lioness Mountains , Portuguese Serra da Leoa or Serra Leoa )) are in the west of the West African state of Sierra Leone on the Freetown Peninsula situated mountain range . They are part of the Western Area Peninsular Forest Reserve .

The Lion Mountains are namesake of the state of Sierra Leone .

Highest point is 888  m of Picket Hill . Is well-known Sugar Loaf at Regent .
